Project Summary

1. In as much detail as possible record the steps it took to create this project in Photoshop.

The first part of my process of creating my Identity Collage was panning out my thinking process, doing different things like listing things that define my personality, and symbols I can use to represent my personality. After planning out my ideas and the different objects and photos I'd want to use to represent myself. Then I moved on to setting up my document and then creating the base of my collage using images like the ocean, cities, and different symbols like doors to create my representation of myself. I used many layer masks, blend modes, and different adjustment layers to create my images and fit them into my collage neatly. I also used free transform to move and manipulate my images in the way I needed to fit them in my collage.

2. Define the terms as they relate to Photoshop: Blend modes, layer masks, and adjustment layers. Give a specific example of how you used each of these in your identity collage.

Blend modes change how colors blend on lower layers and in my project I used this to create the look of a more shear photo on top of my others and create different textures and aesthetics. Layer masks are used to change the visibility of a single layer in an image file, and can also be used to hide or reveal particular areas. Adjustment layers are above the standard image layers and act as an overlay that can adjust brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation.

3. How does your college represent your identity? What specific images did you use and what do they represent about you?

My collage represents my identity through multiple images I chose like the open door with the mountains symbolizing new opportunities and adventure as well as the city in the ocean representing more opportunities and exploration. I chose many ocean elements as they aligned and really represented myself as a person as the ocean represents calmness and stability. As well as the sea animals that represent emotional depth, compassion, and family which are all things I believe connect with me.

4. What was successful in your project? What was unsuccessful and what would you do differently next time to solve this problem?

I think something that was successful in my project was the thought process behind my collage as I genuinely tried to search for things that represented me as a person and the thoughts that I have at the moment. I also think that the layout of the collage and the aesthetics turned out very well, although that would be something I believe could use more time for me to go in-depth and add more meaning and representation, it is to the worst for the time I had.

5. Based on the learning target, what level of mastery does your project demonstrate (Exceeds, Meets, Needs Work, minimal understanding). Why do you think? Make sure to provide specific evidence.

I believe that my project demonstrates a mastery level of meeting, as the collage itself was, in my opinion, very thought out and very creative when it came to the meaning of the photos but I believe it could l. use a lot more detail and maybe more organization.
