Conclusion Questions

1. What are your overall strengths of your project?

In this project, my overall strengths seem to be lighting and being able to work with the lighting for my teammate's photos. I was able to really get the hang of how the lighting for each picture works and is used and how to effectively use the light to my advantage. Even though it could be a struggle from time to time it was generally pretty easy for me and was definitely one of my strengths.

2. What improvements could be made?

Some improvements that could be made are the photos themselves honestly I believe I could have done a lot better when it came to capturing the photos of my model or it just would not come out how I would have preferred it to.

3. What did you learn about lighting patterns?

I learned that lighting really affects the way a picture comes out, it can affect the tone of the picture either creating a very masculine and dark kind of energy or making a very light feminine kind of energy or vibe. It can also bring out or express different emotions as well, but in general, lighting has a really big effect on how photographs turn out.

4. How did photographing an egg prepare you for photographing a classmate?

I think photographing an egg really helped me get the gist or idea of how it would be when I take pictures of my molde. It really gave me an idea of where the light needed to be and the best ways to get the best results with the lighting. Overall a great way to help me outline my plan for the real deal of taking photos with my model.

5. In what ways, were the two labs similar and what ways did the experiences differ?

The two labs were similar because they both had the same kinds of lighting and even though soft and hard lighting was not something we used with our models it really helped me and my team adjust the lighting when we thought it was too harsh or too soft to create better and higher quality pictures. However, the lighting was very different as we used phone lights and flashlights for the egg photographs, so switching to the studio lights was a little bit different to work with when it came to adjusting the lighting intensity but it made getting things like rim and side lighting photos a lot easier than with the egg ad flashlights.

6. Why is lighting important for a photographer to understand?

Lighting is very important for a photographer to understand as it plays a major role in photography and how a picture turns out. Having really intense lighting can really affect the way something looks within the picture and make a lot of features very harsh and unappealing to the eye while having too soft lighting can prevent the definition of features making the photo a lot more flat and lifeless. So lighting really makes or breaks how the photo comes out.

7. How will you incorporate lighting in your photography in the future?

I will really try to use more outdoor lighting as it is the most natural and what most photographers try to recreate with studio lights, and since I take many photos outdoors it is more convenient, but I will also make sure to have the right angels and adjust my settings on my camera to capture the best possible photos with the lighting I have.
